Prototype

A user study was conducted by making a prototype of the concept design. The handle was carved in soft wood according to design intent.

User study

The users are instructed about the walking aid. Ink was applied to their hand and they were asked to hold the walking aidÅ› handle. The handle was covered with paper. They were asked to walk a distance of 10 meter with existing walking aid if any. Their walking was recorded.
The users were now asked to repeat the same procedure with the ergonomic walking aid. The recordings and the contact areas of the walking aids are comparatively analyzed.

Analysis

The papers in which the impressions were made are scanned and the area is calculated in CAD package with proper scale. Comparing the contact areas of the existing walking aid and the ergonomic walking aid, we can see that the contact area is increased in the new design.
